GEORGE NEWS - The Polar Bear Plunge is an annual charity event hosted by dotsure.co.za that raises blankets and spirits all along the Garden Route.
Every winter, hundreds of participants strip down into bikinis and baggies and run screaming into the icy, 11-degree waves in the spirit of goodwill and generosity.
Fun with Freezin' for a Reason in 2018
In the run-up to the 2018 event, individuals and local businesses pledged to participate in teams, and challenged other businesses to join in.
On the day, 700+ winter bods in their swimwear were all over Vic Bay beach and crowds roared in support of getting wet for pets and people in need. Former 5FM DJ Catherine Grenfell played hot beats. Plus, there were a delightful kids' corner, dedicated charity stalls, tasty treats, and competitions to entertain everyone.

The donations
Why, you ask?
With the help of the Eden community, we collected and donated:
• 732 blankets to the needy via organisations like AACL, SPCA, Rotary George and Thanda Jesu. This year we invite you to help us make it a record-breaking donation of 1 000 blankets!
• R20 000 was donated to The Sports Academy George on behalf of Stiles George, who were the crowd favourite on the day.
Take the Plunge with us!
We challenge you to get involved in the Polar Bear Plunge 2019 on Saturday 27 July and make a splash while giving back.
Festivities kick off at 10:00 at Victoria Bay.
Let's get together as a community that cares, build a legacy of love, gather (lots of) blankets and #pledgetoplunge2019.
Online registration opens SOON. For more info call Marelize on 044 805 3522 or e-mail marelize@dotsure.co.za.
