GEORGE NEWS - Sydney Ter Morshuizen (88), a resident of Tuiniqua Centre in George, passed away on Monday 4 January at the age of 88.
"My dad loved people and comfortably engaged with many across a broad spectrum, usually with a mischievous twinkle in his eye," said his son, Alan Ter Morshuizen. "He was generous to a fault, always giving whatever he could to help others, or doing favours with no expectation of reciprocation."
Alan said the single greatest impression that his father left was of being a highly principled man.
"He was absolutely committed to doing what he understood to be the right thing, irrespective of the cost to himself. He was always true to himself, first.
"While he did not amass a fortune, his family and friends are deeply grateful for the rare legacy of authentic integrity that each has benefited richly from. A life well lived!"
Sydney Ter Morshuizen leaves behind his wife, Dorothy, six children - Alan, Art, Maryanne, Jenny, Leslie and Dot, 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
