Update

GEORGE NEWS - The bail application of an alleged local drug trafficker who has been on the run since 2015 will continue in the George Magistrate's Court on Monday 24 October.

The accused, Renaldo Francois Theron (42), was arrested on Wednesday 12 October by the George Serious Organised Crime Investigation team (Hawks) at a property in Lower Main Road in Observatory near Cape Town.

Theron, along with other drug dealers allegedly involved in dealing in cannabis, were under the Hawks' radar.

The other dealers were arrested in 2015 for dealing in drugs, but Theron avoided arrest for alleged possession of drugs worth R243 000 until now.

He made his first court appearance on Thursday 13 October and appeared for his formal bail application on Tuesday 18 October. 

Due to time constraints, the matter was postponed to be completed next week.
