GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - After a year-and-a-half of successfully managing the Garden Route SPCA (GRSPCA), Salomé Bruyns has decided that she's had enough of writing reports.
As of Thursday 1 October, Bruyns is again heading the GRSPCA's team of inspectors in George and Mossel Bay.
"I want to get back into the field and do what I love most - work with animals. I can do so much more for them in the field than sitting in an office doing paperwork," she says.
New additions to the team
After three years working as kennel and cattery managers at the non-profit organisation Oudtshoorn Dogs in Need (Odin), Estelanie van Wyk and Amber du Preez have joined the GRSPCA as adoption officers.
Van Wyk will be responsible for adoptions at the Mossel Bay branch and Du Preez in George. Collectively they have eight years' experience of working in animal welfare.
René Terblanche will be handling things on the education side where she will be teaching children, adults and communities about compassion towards all animals, responsible animal care and animal welfare principles at the branch and during outreaches.
Terblanche will also be responsible for fundraising, so if anyone wants to get involved as volunteers assisting with fundraising, they can contact her at the office on 044 878 1990.
The position of manager will be advertised soon.
