GEORGE NEWS - The ANC Youth League in the Southern Cape, now called the Victor Molosi region, embarked on a special project for Women's Month, in celebration of women's resilience and empowerment.
Newly appointed Regional Task Team members and members of the ANCYL renovated the home of a single mother, Aisha Adams, in Zone 6, Thembalethu.
The team installed glass windows and a new front door, and fixed the back door and cracks in the walls. Outside and inside walls were painted.
The house was originally identified by Adams' neighbour, Yamkela Rixana, a member of the Regional Task Team, who understood the needs of the family.
Hard at work. Regional Task Team members and members of the ANCYL renovated a home of a single mother in Thembalethu.
"The house, which had been in dire need of repair, has been transformed into a safe and comfortable home for the single mother and her family," said convener of the ANCYL, Thando Matika.
"The project not only revitalised the physical structure, but also symbolised hope and resilience for the entire community."
Matika expressed his profound gratitude to all the individuals and organisations who joined forces to make this project a reality.
Regional deputy convener of the ANCYL Lizo Ngalo said their aim is to continue to embark on similar projects that uplift and empower marginalised individuals and communities.
