GEORGE NEWS - The N2 into George has been closed from the Garden Route Mall side, as well as from the Pacaltsdorp side, due to rioting in Thembalethu.
Alternative routes must be taken.
Traffic officials are in place.
There are unconfirmed reports that a truck was set alight near the N2 and that shops in Nelson Mandela Boulevard were looted.
There are also reports of rubber bullets being fired by police along Nelson Mandela Boulevard.
The cause of the protest action is not yet known.
GO GEORGE affected
GO GEORGE drivers living in Thembalethu cannot get to work, which will impact on the bus service.
At this stage, Route 12 Pacaltsdorp - Garden Route Mall and Route 14 Pacaltsdorp - Industria have been suspended, but more routes might be affected due to the drivers being stuck in Thembalethu.
