GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - Driving down Hope Street in George, motorists may be surprised to see a Union Jack hanging outside a business. This is owner Bronwyne Ely's way of showing her respect for Queen Elizabeth ll, who passed away on 8 September.
"I am a fan of the monarchy," she told George Herald this morning. Her heritage is British and her husband, as a Canadian, is also part of the Commonwealth.
"I want to show my support and commemorate the Queen. I admired her very much. My mother stays in Plymouth in the UK and she told me the shop owners do it there," she said. "I decided to do the same here." Ely intends watching the funeral on Monday 19 September.
