GEORGE NEWS - George has received good rains since last night, 20 October, and experienced heavy downpours early this morning, causing stormwater systems within the George Municipal area to be under severe pressure.
In a statement issued this morning municipal spokesperson, Debra Sauer, said they are receiving numerous complaints due to flooding and that their staff is in the field attending to them.
"Our emergency personnel appeal to people living in low-lying areas to take special care during this time. They should monitor the rising water levels and evacuate to a safer place or higher area when the water level rises."
"Also, do not cross low-lying bridges or flooded roads or bridges but rather use alternative routes.
