GEORGE NEWS - The collection of black bags resumes on Monday 15 June following temporary closure on 1 June after staff in this section tested positive for Covid-19.
Next Wednesday is also collection day for neighbourhoods being served on Tuesdays due to the Youth Day public holiday on 16 June.
George Community Services Director Walter Hendricks said the department would do its utmost to collect all of the back log as well as the additional public holiday load in one day.
“Should the department be unable to collect everything on Wednesday, they will collect the remainder of the bags on Thursday. Collection starts at 07:30 and will continue into the night. Residents who have not had all their bags collected by 19:00 on Wednesday 17 June are requested to take their bags in overnight and place them out again the next day (Thursday 18 June).
Blue and green bag collection have continued this week on usual schedule and will follow same schedule as black bag collection for the public holiday (collection Wednesday).
