WESTERN CAPE NEWS - Premier Alan Winde said in a statement today that the Western Cape government welcomes the announcements made by President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier tonight.
"We welcome the announcements made by President Cyril Ramaphosa tonight which will support efforts to save jobs and promote the recovery of the South African economy," said Winde.
"We are especially pleased at the announcement that international travel for both business and leisure can resume with certain restrictions and strict safety measures in place.
"The tourism sector is one of the leading job creators in the Western Cape, and the resumption of international travel from 1 October will allow for international travel over the traditional peak Summer season.
"We also welcome the news that the maximum capacities for both indoor and outdoor gatherings, have been increased to 50% capacity, with a maximum of 250 and 500 people respectively. This will allow for events, performances and conferencing to go ahead and which will support jobs in our conferencing, and creative sectors in the Western Cape."
