GEORGE NEWS – A student from Nelson Mandela University’s (NMU) George campus who had been hospitalised following a drowning incident at Victoria Bay on Friday 31 October, has died.
Her fellow student drowned at the scene.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, emergency services were called to Victoria Bay on Friday afternoon after two women disappeared underwater.
Both were retrieved, but paramedics declared one, a 21-year-old woman, dead at the scene. The second woman, believed to be 19 years old, was taken to hospital in a critical condition and sadly passed away earlier today, Sunday 2 November.
