GEORGE NEWS - Soul Food is proud to announce the introduction of Powa Pack, a new addition to the Soul Food family. Powa Pack is a highly nutritious, fortified porridge, which will be delivered along with the regular food items and fresh fruit and vegetables throughout Soul Food branches in South Africa.
Powa Pack will now be included in the deliveries to its registered community centres, schools and soup kitchens.
In the Garden Route, Soul Food regional manager Esra Isaacs and his team have already delivered many Powa Packs to crèches and day care centres.
Along with the popular Soul Seed box kit sets, Soul Food now offers a wholesome selection of food groups to ensure school children and families are provided with good, nutritious meals.
The successful introduction of Soul Seed previously, relieves the food hand-out dependency for schools, community centres and families who are issued the seed box kit.
With the addition of Powa Pack, schools, families and feeding schemes across the seven Soul Food regions can now offer a range of food groups.
"We are still reliant on our suppliers from retail outlets and farming communities to assist us with fresh food and fruit supplies," says Rev Brent Chalmers, "but the Powa Pack will complement all the elements we gratefully receive from our valued supporters."
The Soul Food Powa Pack porridge contains all the nutrients to keep children healthy, energetic and productive. It is tasty, high in energy and contains the necessary protein and dietary fibre while being well balanced with all available vitamins.
It can be served hot as a porridge, or cold as a nutritious drink and only needs water to ensure a hunger busting meal for people of all ages.
"The nutrients and the added vitamins are essential for our school children at our various ECDs and schools and will enable pupils to concentrate on their school work as well as partake in vital after-school sporting activities, which is also essential to a person's healthy physical and mental development in life," says Chalmers.
"We are very excited to include this low-GI, high quality product in our range of food options. It will go a long way to easing food poverty in the regions we are able to reach and assist at this stage."
