GEORGE NEWS - Supporters are the backbone of the SPCA. The Garden Route SPCA relies heavily on their support and the annual boost members contribute to the SPCA's income at a time of year when funds start to dwindle. The winter lies ahead when more animals will be in need and fewer donations will be forthcoming.
Winters are very rough on many animals in the poorer communities and the current economy is making this season tougher than ever for the SPCA.
Current annual membership of the Garden Route SPCA, running from 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2019, is only R200 per year.
Each supporter chooses which of the following needs their membership fee should be used for and the SPCA ensures that their choice is 100% fulfilled:
• Education: To inspire compassionate care of animals by working with children and adults in impoverished communities along the vast Garden Route area.
• Sterilisation: To help pay for sterilisation of pets whose owners cannot afford private veterinary fees.
• Medical care: To help pay for the treatment of injured and diseased animals whose illness or injuries would probably not be treated without the SPCA's help.
Life membership is a once-off donation of R700 and supports all three of these important funding needs.
Membership will mean that you will not only support our heartfelt cause but you receive discounts of R3 per day at our boarding kennels and cattery and 10% off almost everything at our charity shops.
Cards are available from the SPCA office as well as the charity shops in the York Street Mall Arcade. Cash, card and Zapper payments are all welcome. For more info please call 044 878 1990.
Members also receive our regular newsletter and updates - no more than one mail per week. We try to send out only good news, positive, short stories and thank you notes to our private and corporate supporters.
