GEORGE NEWS - On 18 July, Oakhurst Insurance invited staff and partners to spend their 67 minutes packing meals for communities in need.
Peter Grindlay, managing executive of Oakhurst Insurance, said, "We are privileged to be a part of the unifying power of Nelson Mandela's world-changing vision. We have an existing feeding scheme where our staff donate of their personal time to pack food for those in need on a weekly basis, and this was the perfect opportunity for us to once again put our mantra of 'We Really Care, We Deliver' into action, and join with our partners to benefit others in a meaningful way."
Together they packed food parcels that will feed 50 520 people. Oakhurst Insurance donated the meals to various clinics, a safe house and charity organisations across the Garden Route.
Oakhurst Insurance is very grateful to their partners who joined them for the food packing event, and give special thanks in particular to the mayor's office, members of the George Fire Department, Cape Nature, SANParks and the staff of the Oakhurst Insurance George Arts Theatre.
Everyone present experienced the blessing of giving back to their community and upholding Nelson Mandela’s words, "There can be no greater gift than that of giving one's time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return."
