GEORGE NEWS - The much-loved Christmas party with Noddy and his friends that has dominated the Christmas spirit in Cape Town for so many years, is coming to George.
Inspired by the Round Table's Noddy Party and Rotaract's Uncle Paul's Party, our very own Uncle George's Christmas Party will delight and mesmerise young and old this year.
Organiser and founder of Uncle George's Christmas Party, Clinton Barratt, has been involved in the Cape Town parties for many years and is excited to bring the concept to George. "We have secured the Step Aside venue in George, where a castle structure will be built to create the fantasy setting for Santa, the fairy as well as the Noddy family," he said.
According to Barratt, the traditional Noddy parties have secured a wonderful space in the memories of many adults today, who themselves attended these magical parties - and Uncle George's Christmas Party will prove to be no different as children will delight in seeing the sparkling fairy taking flight across the sky and meet the much-loved storybook characters during the show.
Barratt is a supporter of many NGO organisations in the Garden Route, and has pledged to donate portions of the proceeds to the Garden Route SPCA, Furever Cats and the Garden Route Food Pantry. Attendees will also be asked to donate a non-perishable food item of their choice which will go to the food pantry for distribution over the Christmas season.
He said on Tuesday more than 300 people have already registered in the Garden Route.
Carl van Blerk, managing director of the Garden Route Food Pantry, told George Herald that all community initiatives that can benefit charity organisations will ultimately help them to reach their goals in the communities they serve. "In these challenging times, we need to think differently about how we do business, so that we can support the community as a whole."
In order to abide by strict Covid-19 protocols, a maximum of 80 attendees per night will be catered for, over the period of 9 to 23 December. Attendance will be by pre-booked places only, which can be done online at: https://www.unclegeorgeparty.co.za/
Parents need to register before 30 September by sending a WhatsApp to Clinton on 071 433 6961 or e-mail to info@unclegeorgeparty.co.za. The same number can be used to get more information, or if you would like to volunteer.
