GEORGE NEWS - No fatalities were recorded after a serious accident on the N2 in Wilderness this morning, Tuesday 14 December, where a collision took place between a taxi and a Toyota Hilux bakkie.
The accident happened at the turn-off to Wilderness village at approximately 09:50.
According to information gathered on the scene, the taxi was travelling towards Wilderness when it collided with the bakkie, which was turning off to the village from the opposite side.
The taxi, carrying 10 passengers, veered across the N2, crashed through the barricade fencing on the railway bridge and plummeted to the ground. It miraculously landed on its wheels on the railway track between Sands Road and the N2.
Minor to serious injuries were recorded and emergency personnel had to use the jaws of life to remove the injured from the vehicle.
The driver of the Toyota sustained minor injuries and refused hospitalisation.
