GEORGE NEWS - Madibas were welcomed in true Madiba spirit to the George campus on Saturday 27 January.
Parents and students listened to an address by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Sibongile Muthwa, the only female vice chancellor in South Africa, by way of live streaming to the main campus in Port Elizabeth.
Muthwa said that the Madibas are already special, as only 6 000 of the 57 000 applicants could be accommodated at the university.
Just over 8% of its students are from outside the borders of SA, which illustrates that the status of the university is recognised internationally.
One student, Connor Myburgh says he came here because he loves George. “There are amazing golf courses around here and I am a keen golfer.”
