GEORGE NEWS - One of the best known newspaper delivery men in George recently suffered a setback when his delivery vehicle, his trusted bicycle, was stolen in the CBD. But thanks to a caring customer, Krisjan Harmse is once again happily pedalling away ensuring that residents of Loerie Park, Genevafontein, Denver Park, Eden and Bergsig get their daily fix of news.
On Monday 19 November, while buying groceries at the Shoprite Centre in town, his bike was stolen from the parking area, depriving him of his crucial mode of transport.
Harmse, better known as Blom, has been delivering newspapers in George East for over 20 years. The 42-year old resident of Rosemoor wakes up at the crack of dawn each day, come rain or shine, to deliver newspapers to hundreds of residents.
Blom, who is self-employed, has been waking up extra early to trudge the streets, delivering papers on foot, but thanks to the Good Samaritan, his ordeal was short-lived.
