GEORGE NEWS - George has acquired a new attraction.
Situated at the Oakhurst Insurance George Arts Theatre is the newly completed Nedbank Amphitheatre and Tea Garden.
This entertainment and outdoor facility will be launched with a fine tea on Sunday 11 October.
The construction took place over the last few months, with Gary Barker, a local landscape gardener and horticulturist hard at work laying out a colourful garden, complete with all the attractive embellishments to create a lush green oasis atmosphere.
The project coordinator Lorraine Morgan has ensured that all the building materials for the paving and amphitheatre seating was acquired, and is gratified that most was donated by business people and individuals who have supported the project from the word go.
Said Morgan "We are making a small geranium garden as a lasting tribute to Greta Gericke’s drive to beautify our town The project has moved forward in leaps and bounds and this is due to the smooth running of operations under the guidance and hard work of very capable people.
We are most appreciative of his dedication to seeing the project through to its completion. Sandra Harris (former owner of The Rose and Upstairs), together with Paulette Stammer are now efficiently running the Coffee Bar and soon to be Tea Garden. They are also available to cater for corporate functions by arrangement and for serving light refreshments before shows.
