GEORGE NEWS - Municipal employees are not allowed to ask for fees or Christmas presents when servicing properties. 

Workers do not have permission or right to ask for such fees or presents, and any such action can lead to disciplinary action if guilty.

Should workers approach you in this regard, please take the CAW license registration of the vehicle as well as the GM number on the door of the vehicle and, if possible, the name of the vehicle’s driver.

Refuse workers that make themselves guilty of this can be reported to Community Services at 82 Meade Street or 044 802 2900.

However, the municipality is aware that some businesses and individuals want to treat the people that serve them through the year with a once-off gift, which they are welcome to do – as long as it is of the public’s own accord and without any prompting from workers.
