The black-headed heron, with its "lunch" was photographed in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, around midday.
We were spellbound looking at him sitting at the water's edge, patiently waiting for his unsuspecting prey which would normally be a fish.
I captured the moment with a Canon 70 D camera with a 100-400mm at 200mm 1/640th of a second Canon lens.
Die foto is geneem een Saterdagmiddag. Ek het baie tyd spandeer aan die voorbereiding met wat ek wou bereik om die druppels skerp te kry. Vooraf het dit natuurlik ure se navorsing en baie geduld gekos.
Ek het die volgende gebruik om dit te neem: Canon 7D met 'n 100mm makro lens op 'n driepoot, kamera was op 'manual' gewees, f14, ISO 200, 1/200 s. Ek het ook invul lig gebruik.

I went with George Swart early Sunday morning to take photos. When I saw this statue, it intrigued me. I tried the normal shots first and then I tried a different technique (called bursting). After many shots, I finally got the right one.
The image was taken in the Kgalagadi at 07:00 with a morning mist which gave the image an ethereal look. The black maned lion was photographed walking in the river bed.
Camera settings: 500th sec, ISO 1600, f4 with +1/3rd exposure compensation.
The image was taken during a model shoot while the models took a much-needed break. I stood outside the window and couldn't resist taking this picture of Bronwen Leck as she looked pensive, almost trapped, behind the dirty window. I used my Canon with 24-105mm lens.
