GEORGE NEWS - Police are looking for a male suspect after a 39-year-old woman from Syferfontein was allegedly sexually assaulted on Sunday morning, 13 September.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Sgt Chris Spies, it is alleged that the victim was on her way home from Pacaltsdorp at approximately 06:00 when a man, believed to be in his early twenties, approached her. She could not confirm the suspect's ethnicity.
"The man dragged her into an open field where he sexually violated her. He fled the scene thereafter. The suspect is slender and was dressed in black jeans with a red top at the time of the incident," said Spies.
Anyone with information that could assist the police to trace this suspect is requested contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Martin Borg, at the George Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit on 044 803 4618 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111. All information will be dealt with confidentially.
