GEORGE NEWS - A 36-year-old man was arrested in Blanco on suspicion of rape earlier today (Saturday 1 February).
According to George police communications officer, Capt Nolonwabo Tshengu, it is alleged that the victim (28) went swimming with her brother and the suspect, who is her brother's friend, at a nearby dam on Thursday 30 January.
"After swimming the suspect sent the victim's brother to buy them something to eat. When he left, the suspect allegedly raped the victim while threatening her with a knife. When the victim's brother returned, the suspect fled the scene," Tshengu said.
The suspect, who is currently in custody, is scheduled to appear in the George Magistrate's Court on Monday.
