GEORGE NEWS - The stall that Life Community Services used to have at the Outeniqua Family Market has been terminated and the lovely handmade articles sold there will now be available at a shop they recently opened at their offices at 122 Cradock Street.
It is accessible on weekdays during office hours.
The articles are sewed, knitted and crocheted by women from Life's main job creation project, Isipho (Xhosa for "gift"). Their range includes beautiful and handy items such as toys, baby sets, handbags, cushion covers, masks, children's clothing and more.
These make excellent gifts.
Isipho started as a means of teaching skills to previously unemployed adults in the community and providing them with a sustainable income. Six women are employed on a full-time basis. Along with a group of dedicated volunteers, they also teach young girls at the Life centres how to sew, knit and crochet.
Drop in at the Life Community Services shop at 122 Cradock Street for a wide range of hand-made toys.
For more information, call Life's Cradock Street office on 044 873 6601.
Cute toys that make lovely gifts.
