KARATARA NEWS AND VIDEO - Karatara is the scene of much activity today with the Garden Route Kite Festival Kite Fest taking place until 15:30.
Apart from fancy kites to gawp at, there's a lot of activities for kiddies, including "fishing" , pillow fighting and sack racing.
Parents can fill up at one of the stalls selling food and the coffee stops. A dog agility show is just starting and will be running until about 13:00. The fest is a great Sunday outing for the family.
Around the world, the International Kite Festival is celebrated from 2 October.
The proceeds of the Garden Route Kite Festival go to Masithandane, an NGO that supports local children. According to Masithandane chairperson Jacky Weaver, they have to raise over R200 000 annually for the bursary fund that support children to go to high school. They currently support 32 children.
