GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality assisted in a holiday programme for children from the local community, initiated by Kidstop, as an extension of the literacy and aftercare programme that they facilitate during the school term.
The children participated in positive recreational activities, such as games, sports, literacy, leadership and spiritual development sessions.
Speakers from different organisations provided information to the children to help them make positive choices.
According to Jonel Kerspuy, coordinator of the municipality's Youth Office, holiday dance classes were offered for children and pre-teens, in association with Eagles Nest Ministries in Pacaltsdorp.
This programme taught children the basics of choreography in dance and also taught them the importance of positive citizenship, Bible studies, how to be a good, effective leader, and general life skills.
At the end of the training, each participant was awarded a certificate of attendance at a ceremony that their parents attended.
