GEORGE NEWS - The newly elected committee of the George Ratepayers Association (GRPA) is committed to giving the highest priority to addressing pressing issues facing George, in order to ensure that the ratepayers of George are given a fair and sustainable deal.
So said the chairman, Jacques Wessels. The new committee was elected at the annual general meeting on Tuesday 6 February at the Methodist Church hall.
Areas of focus will be on ratepayers getting a fair deal in electricity, rates, tariffs and improved resource management.
"As immediate focus area, the long-term, intelligent management of our water resources has already been singled out as being one of the most crucial factors for a sustainable future for a burgeoning city.
"Greater transparent accountability within George Municipality, tied to more sustainable tariffs need to be addressed as serious concerns," said Wessels.
The other committee members are Johan Steyn, Barend Janse van Rensburg, Dirk Stander and Theo Burrows (vice-chairman).
