GEORGE NEWS - Usapho Indlu, a George-based Christian NGO, is organising a Christmas Joy Party for children from their Education Centre in Thembalethu and would like the public to partner with them by donating gifts for the young ones.
If you want to assist, you can give a gift bag to the approximate value of R250. This could include an item of clothing, a gift for the appropriate age, and a sweet treat. Or you could donate cash and Usapho Indlu will purchase the gifts and make up the bag.
You can also sponsor items of food that can be used to prepare separate food parcels for the families who are part of the Usapho Indlu project.
Food for the party is also needed, such as chips and sweets, or you can simply give a monetary donation so that they can purchase the food.
Gifts and donations need to be handed in by Friday 1 December.
Phone Sally Versfeld on 072 241 5442 to find out how you can help.
With Christmas around the corner and families starting to plan gifts and get-togethers, spare a thought for these children who do not always have such joyous and exciting times to look forward to.
Usapho Indlu's outreach programme among a number of families in 36th Street in Thembalethu has seen lives improved and transformed.
Children of that area take part in the programmes at the Education Centre which has had a huge impact on their lives since the launch of Usapho Indlu two years ago.
