PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - It is that time of the year again - no, not to decorate your stores and line your shelves with Christmas stuff (still too early guys).
Instead, it's that time of the year again when you can order the latest Nature's Valley calendar, put together by the Nature's Valley Trust (NVT).
Every year, NVT calls local residents and photographers to submit their very best images of Nature's Valley for consideration for the annual calendar.
Photo submissions for the calendar wrapped up in August, and voting was recently carried out to determine who would be the lucky winners to be featured in the calendar. It was a roaring success.
"After a great turnout of picture entries, both camera and cellphone, we have our final selection with the help of an external judging panel and your votes!" NVT said in a recent statement.
"A difficult task, but we feel the choices have captured the spirit of our beloved valley." The new calendar will provide more space to save those important dates and any additional notes, than some previous calendars.
"The calendar is now waiting to hit the printers, on final approval once we reach a target number of pre-orders. To do this calendar justice, we have partnered up with the experts at Phoenix Design - the Calendar Specialist, this family-run printer has been in business for 30 years! So, we're in good hands!"
The calendar is in portrait orientation, and approximately an A3 size, printed on high-quality art paper and individually boxed in packaging strong enough for posting. "These make wonderful presents - so do yourself a favour, do your holiday shopping early, while supporting the wonderful work of NVT who look after this very special place."
The calendars are also a means of fundraising for NVT, but this isn't what it's all about for them.
"We would like to emphasise that the most important aspect of this [calendar] is to build community spirit and increase Nature's Valley's profile as a top holiday destination," NVT said in a statement.
"We want the calendar to capture everything Nature's Valley is about, from the beautiful landscapes and nature to the special family moments shared. Proceeds from calendar sales will go towards our research and education programmes."
NVT needs at least 200 paid pre-orders in order to go ahead with printing. Prices are R250 per calendar, or R1 000 for five.
