GEORGE NEWS - This year's Koi Show will be held at the Garden Route Mall (situated at the George N2 confluence) on Saturday 25 March from 09:00 to 16:00 and on Sunday 26 March from 09:00 to 13:00.
The magnificent koi has emerged from relative obscurity to become one of the most highly prized fish to keep, being aesthetically pleasing to the eye and indeed "a living jewel".
Choosing from the spectacular varieties, the search for the unique "one-off" koi, and the challenge of creating an ideal environment makes koi keeping one of the most fascinating of hobbies and it has a worldwide following.
It is hoped that more than 200 fish will be exhibited. The head judge at the Southern Cape Show will be the vastly experienced ZNA judge, Dirk de Witte from Belgium. Dirk is also the chairperson of the Belgian Koi Society and will be accompanied by Rudi van der Broecke, a ZNA local certified judge, also from Belgium.
They will be ably assisted by Mike Harvey, ZNA certified judge; Wilhelm Geldenhuys, ZNA assistant certified judge; Dean Britz, ZNA assistant certified judge; Jim Phillips, ZNA local certified judge; Clint Chen, SAKKS Grade B judge; and Abraham Wiggill, SAKKS Grade B judge.
There will be koi fish and other koi-related products for sale.
The members of the Southern Cape Koi Chapter invites the public and koi enthusiasts to visit the show.
