GEORGE NEWS - The Power Tower is an annual national food drive by Role Models Foundation in aid of SA for Hope and other beneficiaries, during which canned food donations, toiletries and cleaning supplies are collected.
Thousands of food parcels will be distributed to the needy. On 11 November, Power Towers or "can towers" built with the tinned food are also to be built in all nine provinces to create awareness.
In George, the Power Tower will be built at Pick n Pay Family George (Pre-cap Centre).
The food will be donated to SA for Hope and other beneficiaries that focus on farmers and their workers in drought-stricken areas and communities.
"We call on the public to come and support us. You can get all you want to donate at the Pick n Pay Family store. The need is huge and every donation, however small, will be much appreciated," says Pieter du Plessis, a director of SA for Hope.
Businesses that donate can obtain an Article 18A tax certificate upon request. Cash donations are also welcome.
Volunteers will be available to collect donations and this can be arranged with Adèle van Tonder, project coordinator and Mrs Western Cape 2023, on 082 778 7859 or Pieter on 076 844 6435.
