GEORGE NEWS - The annual George Open Gardens event in aid of Badisa will be held on Saturday 28 October from 09:00 to 16:00.
The gardens, generously opened up to the public by their owners, reflect a variety of gardening spaces ranging from small retirement living gardens to large smallholding and farm gardens.
There is something for everyone to enjoy, and lots of tips and ideas to take away.
Refreshments are usually available at one or two gardens. Some have tables and seating where you can enjoy your own picnic.
A few of the gardens have small nurseries and plants may be on sale on the day. Please do not take cuttings or anything from the garden without first asking the owner.
If it rains, the event will carry on as planned, so wear appropriate clothing and come along anyway.
Ticket prices are R70 per person. School children are admitted free. Visitors may also bring non-perishable foods to stock up the Badisa food pantry.
Pay for your tickets at either of the following gardens on the day:
- 36 Stander Street, Bergsig; or
- 13 Glenwood Avenue, Glenwood.
You will receive a ticket, directions to all the gardens and an entry into the lucky draw where there is a range of gardening-related prizes to win, generously donated by the event's sponsors.
You are welcome to visit all or as many gardens as you have time for.
