GEORGE NEWS - The Garden Route Casino hosted the Destiny Rise of Iron bodybuilding and fitness competition last Saturday, 18 March. The event, which focuses on novice and beginner athletes, attracted competitors from the Garden Route, Cape Town and Uganda. Over 200 supporters came to root for their favourite.
The Garden Route was well
represented, with one of the youngest competitors the 16-year-old Gino Nortjé Williams from Oudtshoorn, Knysna's Clayton Kiewitz taking first in the Open Men's Physique and a grand total of nine Georgians walking away with first place in their categories.
The Overall Men's Bodybuilding winner was Byron Wodeya from Uganda, who will go on to compete at the European Classics in the United Kingdom on 11 May.
At the event it was also announced that the Garden Route Casino Bodybuilding Classic on 8 June will be a provincial selection event for Garden Route athletes to be eligible to compete at the SA championships.
