GEORGE NEWS - The Outeniqua branch of the Dendrological (tree) Society is organising an outing on Sunday 13 July at 10:00 to the Garden Route Botanical Garden in George (GRBG).
Dayne de Wet, the curator of the GRBG, will be leading visitors through the gardens, paying special attention to the labelled indigenous trees as specimen trees in a garden setting. There will also be a guided tour of the new propagation shed and the rehabilitated forest area will be explored.
Afterwards, visitors can enjoy a bring-your-own picnic lunch in the gardens. Remember to take along walking shoes, sunscreen and hats.
To get to the gardens from Knysna Road, continue straight and turn ight at the first road into Caledon Street. Continue a few hundred metres to find the Botanical Gardens on the left. Park under the shade opposite the administration buildings.
