GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Former Miss South Africa and Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters and her family are mourning the death of her baby sister, Franje Peters (13).
Franje passed away over the weekend, losing the battle with a challenging condition she was born with known as cerebellar agenesis.
In people with this condition, the cerebellum of the brain doesn’t develop, causing them to be unable to receive information from the sensory systems, spinal cord and the parts of the brain that could help manage motor movements.
"My little Princess, Angel on Earth, biggest joy and baby sister, Franje, passed away earlier today. Our hearts are aching beyond measure but I am grateful knowing she’s forever relieved of the pain she experienced on earth,” Nel-Peters wrote on Sunday.
“She’s laughing, running and playing in heaven just like we always hoped she would on earth. She’s free! Thank you for all your prayers, love and support.”
