GEORGE NEWS - Blanco Neighbourhood Watch (BNW) partnered with the armed response company, Fidelity ADT, in November.
"We are delighted with the proactive efforts from the BNW who has been excellent in getting this project off the ground successfully," said Pieter Meiring, Garden Route branch manager of Fidelity ADT.
"We have enjoyed the opportunity to be able to assist them in finding the most appropriate solutions for their security needs."
According to Meiring the role played by the company's technical field line manager, Eric Gouws, made a particular impact on this successful collaboration.
"Eric played a critical role in setting up the security project which involved the installation of community security cameras as well as security boards to enhance the presence of both ourselves and the BNW."
According to the BNW chairperson, Deon van der Rijst, Gouws and the armed response team were phenomenal during the lockdown.
"I would like to acknowledge them for always assisting with patrols and call-outs. They are always ready to jump to action whenever we call for assistance. We would also like to thank them for the continued support with our camera project. They have helped us to set up 26 strategically located cameras across our area to monitor our streets," said Van der Rijst.
The Blanco security project involves community security cameras, signboards as well as regular visible patrols. Community security solutions have become a popular trend in the Garden Route with many communities taking the necessary proactive safety measures. This is often done in collaboration with security companies, law enforcement and other neighbourhood watches.
