ABERDEEN NEWS - This morning at 05:20 a minibus taxi overturned on the R61 road 20km outside of Aberdeen, in the direction of Aberdeen to Beaufort West.
The taxi driver from Cape Town, travelling between Aberdeen and Cape Town, allegedly lost control of the vehicle when the trailer hooked to the vehicle started swerving. The vehicle overturned.
It is confirmed that one female passenger tragically passed away at the accident scene. Most passengers were injured; and 13 passengers with serious injuries. All injured passengers were taken to the Aberdeen Hospital.
It is also confirmed that the Aberdeen Police is at the scene. Investigation might lead to the opening of a criminal case against the driver.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident and the R61 is open for traffic.
