GEORGE NEWS - If all went according to plan, Fancourt management should be smiling right now. 

"We have started reconnecting users to the network and should have all fancourt.co.za e-mails back online by the close of business today," said Leroy Ferreira, sales and marketing director at Fancourt yesterday morning (Wednesday 7 December).

This follows after a cyber attack in the early hours of the morning almost a week ago, last Friday 2 December. 

All access to servers and e-mails linked to Fancourt Hotel, Manor House and the Links Golf Club was compromised by an outside intrusion. 

"The reservations booking system was recovered last Saturday 3 December already and accessible to our team at one terminal, thus losses were limited," said Ferreira.

"The cyber attack triggered intrusion alerts to our IT team who then managed to interrupt the attack before it could cause permanent damage."

Ferreira confirmed yesterday morning that great progress was made over the last few days.

"We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the words of support and encouragement and the Fancourt team wishes everyone a safe and joyous festive season."
