GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - A video doing the rounds on social media showing a breathalyser machine’s readings being altered after eating a Hot Cross Bun has sent social media into a frenzy,
The George Herald decided to put this to the test.
Five volunteers were asked to each test a different food or beverage and underwent a breathalyser test before eating or drinking. The items that were put to the test were sugar-free chewing gum, croissants, a beer, ginger beer and hot cross buns.
After enjoying their snack, each volunteer had to undergo another breathalyser test.
Results
The two people who had the chewing gum and croissants, had a reading of 0.00 on the breathalyser.
The volunteer who had the beer had a reading of 0.12 and the person who had some ginger beer had a reading of 0.05. The hot cross bun came in last with a reading of 0.01. Proving that you will not get prosecuted for driving under the influence of hot cross buns.
