GEORGE NEWS - The public of the Garden Route is invited to take part in an effort to collect tinned food for the Power Towers Food Drive, a charity project for the Role Models Foundation.
Mariëtte Griebenauw, the coordinator of the project in the Garden Route, says she is aiming at collecting 10 000 cans.
"The project is run countrywide and thousands of food parcels will be distributed to the needy. Each province will be building a food tower on 13 November. The Garden Route is participating as a separate region."
In George, the food tower will be put up at Oakhurst Hotel and the food will be donated to the Biesiemandjie project in Dana Bay, which focuses on needy children.
Businesses who donate, receive their normal income tax incentives, but there are also marketing opportunities available for large donations. "Donors may also obtain an Article 18A tax certificate upon request. Cash donations are also welcome," says Griebenauw.
Persons who wish to donate, may drop off donations at Glassfit or The Men's Room (York Street Boulevard) or phone Griebenauw on 061 265 4898.
