GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - The Public Private Partnership agreement between the Garden Route District Municipality and Eden Waste Management has just been approved by Council.
Officials who worked for the last 16 years on the project received a standing ovation at the last council meeting of the year.
According to Mayor Memory Booysen this is a first of its kind for the country. It is expected that the building of the site will start in February 2020, with the first truck loads of waste processed by September next year.
The total cumulative cost to the district municipality over the 10 year and 8 months contract period will be about R790 million. This includes all compulsory and selected services.
