GEORGE NEWS - Five local dance schools and a high school dance department have worked together to raise funds for a crematorium for the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) in Conville.
As host of Dance Mosaic, an annual production by a variety of dance schools, Abbi Geldenhuys of Abbi Geldenhuys Academy of Ballet is most excited about their upcoming shows on Friday 19 November (15:00 and 19:00) and Saturday 20 November (15:00 and 19:00).
The total income generated will be donated to the PDSA to help rebuild their crematorium, which burnt down on 3 May this year.
The centre cares for indigent animals in the community, and is dependent on private donations.
Who's on board?
Participating dance schools include Geldenhuys' own academy Rhythmical Seeds, York High Dance Department, Marlise's School of Spanish Dance, Leanne Heysteck's Ballet Babes and Siya's Gumboot Boys. Dance styles include ballet, hip hop, contemporary, jazz, Spanish and gumboot dancing.
Tickets for Dance Mosaic are available at the George Arts Theatre in York Street at R150 (adults) and R120 (kids under 12). There are only 108 seats available per show.
