GEORGE NEWS - The Garden Route SPCA (GRSPCA), with assistance from George Municipality and the George fire brigade, saved a cow from certain death in Thembalethu on Monday 22 August.
“We received a call regarding a cow that had fallen into a drain. When inspector Henrico Pypers arrived at the scene, he found the cow had crept into a drain pipe and he realised it was going to be a difficult rescue,” says GRSPCA’s Amber du Preez.
Thankfully, with the help of the municipality and the fire brigade, the cow was lifted out of the muddy pit after a four-hour rescue operation.
“Thank you to all involved and the member of the public who reported it to us,” said Du Preez.
