The George Fire Department was called out on Sunday when a fire broke out at ISP Group Solutions in Merriman Street.
GEORGE NEWS FLASH - An events company in George suffered a loss of about R2,5-million after a fire broke out on Sunday.
The George Fire Department was called out shortly after 11:00 to ISP Group Solutions in Merriman Street.
Firefighters had to gain access to the building in different ways, according to Debra Sauer, George municipality assistant media liaison officer.
Company owner Michelle Cawood-van Vuuren said they are not entirely sure what started the fire. "We suspect it might be a fridge as this was the only thing that was on at the time," she said.
"A lot of our stock was damaged, but at this point we have been able to fulfil all our obligations towards our customers, which we are really grateful for. We will also make every effort to have replacement stock for all our customers that have booked in the near future as we do not intend on letting anyone down."
Cawood-van Vuuren thanks everyone who has helped since the incident. "The amount of support and love we have been shown has been phenomenal and we truly appreciate every kind word and gesture from clients, friends and strangers alike. We continue to trade uninterrupted throughout the cleanup process and appreciate the support from our customers."
