GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - The Congress of South African Students (Cosas) want all schools in South Africa to close.
Learners from primary and high schools in Thembalethu took to the streets this morning in protest against learners and teachers who allegedly tested positive for Covid-19, and schools "keeping quiet about it".
Lifa Scritch, the regional coordinator of Cosas, says there are confirmed cases at Thembalethu High School and ImiZamu Yethu High School.
He says they want all the schools to close and all the learners to be tested.
“If they clean all the schools properly then things can go back to normal.”
Siphiwo Mathys, a worried parent, said they want the education department to interact with them and be forthcoming with all statistics.
"All the uncertainty is wreaking more havoc and pain," he said.
