GEORGE NEWS & VIDEO - Christmas came early this year for some opportunists who found themselves in a bubbly bacchanalia in Nelson Mandela Boulevard on Tuesday 5 December.
Chaos erupted when a truck transporting Bernini Blush Sparkling Spritzer partially lost its load as it went around the corner at the traffic lights connecting NM Boulevard with Industrial Street in the George industrial area - turning a mundane commute into a lively celebration.
In a shocking video of the event it can be seen how people from all corners, including a mother with a baby on her hip, storm towards the truck in a frenzy, grabbing as much of the sparkling spritzers strewn across the asphalt as they can while the truck driver looks on helplessly.

Shortly after the incident, police and traffic officials arrived on the scene and order was restored by the men in blue, but by that time much of the canned liquid gold had already found new homes.
At the time of going to print no comment regarding the incident had been received from the police.
