January winners
Senior open: Gustav van der Gryp - Torres Del Paine. The photo was taken in Patagonia during a trip there.
He had to climb a hill in the dark to be at the place he wanted to photograph from before sunshine, carrying the tripod and camera gear.
Camera settings: manual, f8, 30s, ISO100, 40mm.
Theme: Joggie van Staden - Wave at sunrise. The wave on its way to the rocks at Victoria Bay was photographed during the golden hour shortly after sunrise.
Shooting into the sun, the low angle of the sun lit up the spray beautifully while the curling wave also became luminescent as the sun shone through it.
Camera settings: Nikon D800E, Nikkor 200-500mm @ 200mm, f5.6, 1/2000sec, ISO 640.
Junior nature: Gertie Joubert - Koningrooibekkie
Senior nature: Schalk Engelbrecht - Balancing act. The photo of an Open Bill Stork building its nest was taken in the Okavango Delta.
Schalk used continuous shooting mode and panning approach to keep the bird in focus.
Camera settings: Fuji film XT2, 400mm lens exposure, time 1/2400th of a second, ISO 1000, f stop - 7.1.
Junior nature - Gertie Joubert - Koningrooibekkie
Junior open - Scott Ormerod - Circular fighters
