GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Bikers from the Garden Route will join the third "Ride for a Child" charity motorbike ride on Saturday 26 February.
Ride for a Child is an initiative of the NGO Pediatric Care Africa. Riders from Mossel Bay, George, Oudtshoorn and surrounding areas will meet at the Sasol George Highway at 08:00, from where they will travel to Jeffrey's Bay.
All riders are welcome to accompany
Dr André Hattingh, founder and executive director of Pediatric Care Africa, on his mission to raise funds for 1 000 underprivileged children in need of surgical treatment.
Hattingh is challenging all parents and grandparents to ride along for a section of the route as sponsored riders, whereby they are sponsored for R1 per kilometre by a friend, a company or themselves to benefit the charity ride.
Hattingh will complete the entire distance of 7 000km during this epic trip, visiting the most northern, southern, eastern and western points in South Africa accessible by road bike.
He will leave Louis Trichardt on Sunday 13 February and will travel to Lephalale (Ellisras), Upington, Port Nolloth, Lamberts Bay, Cape Town, Cape Agulhas, George, Gqeberha (PE), East London, Durban and Piet Retief.
Regardless of the distance a rider travels, he/she will qualify to purchase a Ride for a Child 2022 badge for R50 as part of the fundraising drive.
