GEORGE NEWS - Bikers from various clubs in the area, and some from as far as Carletonville, joined forces on Saturday afternoon, 15 December, to raise money for a friend and fellow biker from George, Michael Avenant.
Avenant sustained multiple injuries in an accident with his bike at the Lion Rally in Cradock on 30 November. No other vehicles were involved.
About 120 bikers and friends gathered at Motorcycle Madness in Mitchell Street for a braai and some fun and games while raising money for Avenant's medical costs. About R20 000 was raised.
At the time of going to print Avenant was still in a hospital in Port Elizabeth. If he recovers sufficiently, he will be transferred to the George Hospital for further recovery.
