GEORGE NEWS - After an appeal for kitten food on Facebook on 16 October, senior SPCA inspector Salomé Bruyns received a reply saying that a local pet food retailer would sponsor some cat food.
She was subsequently asked to come and collect it.
When Bruyns arrived at the store today, Wednesday 17 October, she was told that the food had already been collected by a caucasian woman, wearing an SPCA sticker, who said she was Bruyns.
She allegedly arrived in a Toyota Hilux double-cab bakkie with an adult man and a boy. She not only took food, but exchanged the kitten food for big bags of dog food.
Bruyns posted this on Facebook earlier today: “Warning. Someone is going around pretending to be me fetching donated food for the SPCA. Do not give donations to anyone not in SPCA uniform.”
If anyone knows who this woman is, please contact the SPCA on 044 878 1990. Your details will be kept confidential.
